About Dr. Michael Johnson
With both his father and his brother working as oral surgeons, it wasn’t a hard decision for Dr. Michael Johnson to choose oral surgery for his career. His dad, Dr. Carl Johnson, has always been his hero, and with the combined influence of his brother, Dr. Ben, and Dr. Rick, Dr. Michael was inspired to return to the Pacific Northwest to join the family business. Much like his family, Dr. Michael’s main focus is ensuring that patients feel comfortable and have a good experience at our office.
Many people dislike the dentist, and they often associate these feelings with oral surgeons as well. Dr. Michael dedicates his time to making sure that patients don’t ever feel pressured or rushed. He takes the time to get to know his patients and develops a trustworthy relationship with them to ensure they enjoy their experience more than they expect to. He finds satisfaction in providing patients with immediate gratification, and always appreciates the opportunities he gets to relieve their pain, improve their appearance, and restore their oral function.
Dr. Michael attended Utah Valley University for his undergraduate career and graduated in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Inspired by his dad and brother, he continued his education by completing dental school at Temple University in Philadelphia and earning his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree.
Like other oral surgeons, Dr. Michael was required to complete a minimum four-year oral and maxillofacial surgery before being allowed to work in private practice. During this residency, Dr. Michael worked closely alongside surgeons and doctors and learned how to treat a wide range of oral and facial conditions. Additionally, he was trained by licensed anesthesiologists on the proper administration of anesthesia, making him one of the highest qualified dental professionals to safely administer all forms of sedation. Dr. Michael finished his residency at the University of Oklahoma and was proud to return to the caring and diverse Pacific Northwest community.
Having been raised in the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Michael is glad to have returned home to a genuine and interesting community. He’s excited to be back in such a community-oriented setting, and he looks forward to raising his two daughters where he grew up.
In his spare time, Dr. Michael enjoys being outdoors and taking advantage of all that nature has to offer. He loves hiking the various trails available in the Pacific Northwest, backpacking, and fishing.
